Q- What time does school start? What time does school end?
A- School begins at 8:10 AM. Our doors open at 7:30 and the students may go to the cafeteria for breakfast OR come down to the Kindergarten pod to await the start of school. Don't worry-- there will be a teacher or an administrator monitoring students at all times. At 7:45, I will bring our friends into the classroom. School wide announcements begin promptly at 7:55 AM. Your student will be marked tardy after 8:10 AM. Instructional time starts at 8:10 AM. School ends at 3:10 PM.

Q- Will my child go to outclass every day?
A- Yes, your child will go to a different outclass every day. The outclass schedule may change without notice, so please send your child to school in exercise-appropriate footwear every day (closed toe tennis shoes would be perfect). Our outclasses are: Library, Science Lab, Music, P.E., and Art.

Q- What should my child bring to school every day?
A- Please make sure that your child brings his/her labeled backpack, a lunch/lunch money, a water bottle, and a snack to school every day. Also, please make sure to check your child's daily and Tuesday folders for important school notes each night. Please send these folders back to school the next day. Also, please remember to put your child's library book back into its labeled Ziploc bag and into his/her backpack after reading it.

A- Every Tuesday, I will email/send home a hard copy of our weekly school newsletter. Please be sure to read these newsletters as they will contain important grade level and school announcements.

Q- Can I eat with my child at lunch?
A- Absolutely! Please feel free to join us for lunch from 10:15 to 10:45. Please sign in at the front desk upon your arrival (you will be given a visitor's badge). We ask that parents sit across from their children. Thank you!

Q- How do I check how much money is left in my child's lunch account?
A- You can find this information through the Parent Portal. Yellow and white lunch envelopes with your child's available balance will also be send home periodically through the Tuesday folder.

Q- Is there snack time in Kindergarten?
A- Yes, we have snack time in the afternoon. Please pack a small, healthy snack for your student each day (a sandwich-bag sized portion works great) along with a water bottle. Please send a snack that your child can eat independently. Please, no juice or colored drinks; it stains our carpets and is difficult to clean. Thanks for your cooperation!

A- Yes! Store bought cupcakes and/or cookies would be fantastic. Water, plates, and napkins would also be wonderful as well. Please send me an email prior to your child's birthday so I can let you know how many friends we currently have in our classroom. Birthday invitations may be distributed at school as long as all friends in the classroom are invited. Thank you for your patience and understanding regarding this matter.

A- I am usually available to meet during my planning period (11:30 PM-12:25 PM) from Monday through Friday. However, I am sometimes unavailable due to meetings. Please send me an email or call me to set up an appointment in advance and I will do my best to accommodate. Also, I would love to meet with all parents during our parent-teacher conference days. Please reserve October 11, 2012 and February 13, 2013 on your calenders for these important conferences.

After you are cleared (the process usually takes about 2 weeks), I will send you an email to let you know how you can help us in our room. We will need parent volunteers for our field trip, Thanksgiving feast celebration, winter party, Valentine's Day party, and Field Day. Thank you in advance for your time and commitment!

A- This is a great question. Do not worry, your child will be with a kindergarten teacher at all times during dismissal. Each kindergarten teacher is assigned a specific dismissal and she will accompany your child to their designated area safely. These are the ways your child can go home:
